Zlatoust steel engraving originated in 1816-1817 as a decoration of cold steel. The art of Chrysostom absorbed the rich traditions of Russian and European gunsmiths of the 17-18th centuries, and soon the Ural engravers created their own distinctive style. In the 1830s household appliances - boxes, caskets, cutlery, trays, paper cutting knives, cigarette cases, cigarette cases, hunting knives and hatchets - are beginning to decorate a well-known factory. Engraving on steel from Zlatoust has a glorious past, deep traditions. The art of Zlatoust engraving was owned by local masters, passing it from generation to generation. Performing unique things, old experienced engravers were able to show off gilding of etched and blued steel, to achieve subtle transitions in the engraving.
